Hi John:
Quick question: How can I tell if my USB-UIRT supports zones? I do not recall when I bought my USB-UIRT so am uncertain. I understand that that units sold after around Feb. '04 have "Zone" feature.
My unit has the 1/8" miniplug in back but I suppose that may not be enough to know.
Hope your holidays were pleasant.
Thanks and Regards,

Look at the serial # on the back. If the serial # has a small 'Z' after it, then it supports zones.

Thanks for the info. Suppose you've never had to answer that question before, NOT!
Pooters, no "z" at the end of my S/N. Sigh.

Is there an explanation or documentation on the ZONE feature somewhere around here? I only recently purchased the USB-UIRT and am still learning how to use it.

|
|
I purchased three USBuirts through SnapStream (Beyondtv) a couple weeks ago. I was unable to get zones to work so I looked at the serial number on my USBuirt device. Now the serial number it self has no z trailing after it, however the model # does.
Model #USBUIR T0038z
S/N 115979
My question is this, did you mean the z was suppose to follow the model number or the serial number? Why if I just purchased three of these a couple weeks ago 10/03/2005 do none of these has a z after the model name?
Is the above listed model / s/n support zones? I would assume so being that its brand new. |

I stand corrected -- the 'z' should follow the MODEL NUMBER. Yes, your model should support zones. If you want to test this out, the easiest way is to plug a pair of stereo headphones into the jack and 'listen' to IR codes.
