I recently bought a USB-UIRT (S/N 130481) from Snapstream for use with BTV and a Pace DC50X set top box to convert Comcast digital to analog. I use a Hauppauge HVR 1600 PCI tuner card. I’m running Win XP/SP3 with BTV 4.9.2 and a FireFly remote. The PC is a generic dual-core Celeron with an Intel G31 chipset.
I’ve installed the version 1.4 driver. The USB-UIRT shows up under the USB section of Device Manager and claims to be “working properly” when checked for properties.
I’ve followed the BTV setup guide for USB-UIRT. When going thru the BTV Setup Wizard I run into problems just after the “Select Set–top Box Model”. The Pace DC50X isn’t listed, so I select “Unlisted Device”. I configure the “Advanced Tuning Settings” screen and all seems to be going well. When I hit the next button I get an error message from the BTV setup wizard:
“There was a problem communicating with the IR device, try disconnecting and reconnecting it.”
As you can guess, unplugging and replugging the device makes no difference. I’ve reinstalled the driver multiple times and gone thru the procedure 5-6 times with the same result.
The BTV setup wizard does proceed to the next “Record Remote’s Buttons” screen. At this point the USB-UIRT is sitting there blank. When I point an IR device at it and push a button it lights-up with a blinking red light, so it seems like it’s working. But the BTV setup screen does not recognize anything happening. I assume because it isn’t communicating with the USB-UIRT.
How do I fix this? |

| I don't use BTV, but you can verify that the USB-UIRT is working correctly using lrnhelper. Lrnhelper is a simple app provided by USB-UIRT support. the app can be downloaded from here. Using lrnhelper, learn an IR transmission from an OEM remote and then transmit to see if it works. If it works, your problem is with the setup between BTV and the USB-UIRT - not the USB-UIRT itself. |
