I'm another user that has encountered the BSOD 0x7e, this time when running Vista x64 SP2. There seems to be no problem with SP1, but after installing SP2 and the Vista driver v2.02.04 on my x64 machine, and then swapping a mouse or keyboard, I get the 0x7e BSOD during bootup. The BSOD also happened once while windows was already loaded, so it is definitely unstable. I did keep the minidump file associated with this BSOD, in case it helps. Please tell me someone has or is working on a fix! Thank you.
Edit: I forgot to mention a few things. My CPU is Core i7 920, 3x2GB Corsair DDR3-1600, Auzen Prelude X-Fi sound card, and 2 raid arrays. My machine is totally stable - it passes memtest86+, prime95 blend, and intelburn stability tests. I ran into a somewhat similar problem with PerfectDisk - read about it here:
