Long USB cable problem, or (most likely) USBUIRT issue?

I am using USBUIRT with GBPVR. My PC is in the basement, and I have a 12 feet usb extension cable running through a hole in the wall and connected to my USBUIRT which is 6 feet by itself (total now is 18 feet = 5.4 meter, which is slightly above the USB spec limit of 5 meters).

Having said the above, I am not sure if my problems are caused by the USB cable, since it seems that some USBUIRT is working fine (LED blinks when receiving or transmitting ...etc.) and I can even learn codes from that distance, but the thing is looks like the ocdes are either learnt wrong, or I need to tweek it.

Now, I am experiencing those problems:

1- Receive problems: I program Girder to accept certain remote buttons so I can navigate the GBPVR interface. Looks working when the USBUIRT is downstairs by my computer (NOT using the extension cable), but is not working when I have it upstairs using the extnesion (No action what so ever, but the LED is blinking).
Now I must say that I changed the remote code again, and now certain codes DID work (you see some sction), but it did not learn it correctly, so the selection in GBPVR goes up then immediately down, even thoguh my intention was DOWN. This happens withe exnesion or without it.

2- Transmit Problems: When GBPVR tries to tune my Sat Receiver, it sends through USBUIRT the channel number but looks like the wrong channel numbers (tring to send 1 0 7 actually send 0 0 4 or soemthing).
I cannot test this without the extension cable, since my Sat is upstairs always.

Do you think (for transmit) placing the USBUIRT in a different spot can have some impact on what my Sat receives? I have the USBUIRT by the side of my Sat Receiver, do you think putting it on TOP of the Sat can help?

Sorry for the long post, but I do not think my problems are due to the long exnesion cable, since some codes do work, but not all codes.

I think this is a problem related to USBUIRT, and I have no idea how to configure it.

Is there a way to control timings, count ...etc. in GBPVR?

How can I solve my problems?

I am in total loss.. Please help...

The problems you're describing *might* be dure to the extension -- if so, it would most lilkely be too much power supply sag due to the length of cable. If you have access to a POWERED USB hub, you could try putting it in the middle and switching it to powered mode (using an external power supply) and see if that clears things up.

For testing purposes, I would suggest testing outside of GBPVR, using a test app. (You can get the LrnHelper test app from support@usbuirt.com )

Ok.. Issue resolved.
It was NOT the long exnesion cable, but the codes I used to send to GB-PVR seemed complex and long which caused "confusion". Since I have the freedom to choose any universal code to control my GB-PVR, I just picked a simpler code and now it is working wonderfully.

Also, the transmit channel numbers issue is due to configuration error I made when configuring GBPVR. Now it is working fine

Thanks a lot for that helpful program, since it did show me the internal codes of my IR signals, and it was really long codes, then I switched to shorter codes and now it is fine...
