Repeated numbers problem

Postby rla » Sun Dec 12, 2004 9:57 pm

Hello,

After searching this forum, I found that other people have found a workaround for the repeated number problem - where for example channel 144 comes up as 14.

It is apparently due to different codes being transmitted after the initial code is sent.

But if this is so, why does my Philips Pronto send the correct signal with repeated numbers? Why does usb-uirt not do the same?

Finally, what is the workaround to enable repeated numbers to be sent?
I have tried exhaustive configurations of repeatcount and intercode delay...

Using latest firmware for usb-uirt v1.3
GBPVR
Red-Eye translator on my Pace 4000 cable box.

Thanks in advance!
Cal.

rla,

Yes you are correct in that your remote is alternating codes for this. The Pronto works around this by having an internal database of these special types of codes and compensates when it sees one. The USB-UIRT does not have this database, so we must use a bit more sweat and tears...

These codes are RC5-type codes. There are two ways to work around it:

1. Use an RC5 code pasted into your GBPVR IR code file.
2. Use a method of giving the USB-UIRT two codes for each button in your GBPVR IR code file. This is still a bit complex to explain. If you want to do this, please contact me at support@usbuirt.com and we'll walk through it.

Thanks for this.

For method 1, I take it you mean that the full RC5 code string will contain handling repeated numbers?

If so, I am ready to do the required editing of the IR code file for method 1.
But I don't quite know what's required!

Where do I get a listing of RC5 code types? On this site or on one of your links?

Thanks,
Cal

Cal,

The RC5 method will work if you have access to Pronto RC5 codes. I would suggest looking at www.remotecentral.com's Pronto database for your make and model. RC5 Pronto codes are in the format:

5000 ..... ..... .....

while standard 'Learned' pronto codes are in the format:

0000 .... ..... ....

Hi,

I read this topic with interest as I have the same problem.
I am in the UK and have an NTL STB (Samsung) , which I control via usb-uirt.
When I have double numbers e.g. 500 becomes 50, etc.

I also use GBPVR and sage.

You said :

Is that offer open to others ?

Cheers

SageTV and NTL Samsung ST2100C channels 11,100,144

Postby newschapmj1 » Sat Apr 16, 2005 9:07 am

Just to confirm I am having the same problem.
ie using SageTV 2.1 to change channel on my Samsung ST2100C and cannot get
channel 11,100,144

Apart from this installation has gone smoothly once I looked in the Sage Manual.

I've just emailed support@usbuirt.com.
