Cannot Learn Codes for an old Jerrold Box

Your issue appears different. It appears your remote is only sending out a single burst. To learn this burst, try using the latest Girder plugin (www.usbuirt.com/latestGirderPlugin.zip) and when in Learn, press the button on the remote and then click the 'Accept Burst' button.

Were you ever able to do anything with the Jerrold 5508? I have one too which I cannot get to work with Sage TV.

I have also tried the Lrnhelper program, it fills up the progress bar a little with one brief burst, when I hit accept burst and try to test it I get nothing.

This is the code it gives for 1 on my remote

Your problem is different -- your cable box is *not* DC, but appears to be sending a single 'burst' for each key pressed. Since the learn algorithm is looking for continuous IR to analyze, you're not getting very far in the learn progress.

The later USB-UIRT Girder plugin has an 'accept as burst' button which will highlight in these situations. So, press and hold the button as usual until progress stops, then press the 'Accept as Burst' button and give it a try.

I've got an old Jerrold Box (General Instrument) Model 550 and am planning to get the USB-UIRT to control it. Has this issue been fixed?
