snapstream and high cpu using USB-UIRT

Hi all,
I bought snapstream not long ago, and immediately got interested in the USB-UIRT because I have a satellite dish (bell expressvu).
I can run just fine with a dual p3-800 machine, a PVR250 and an ATI AIW-128. processor usage sits at about 30% in live tv mode. When I introduce the USB-UIRT as the tuning device, my CPU usage during live TV jumps up to 90% or more and my video gets choppy. I also have a wireless keyboard and mouse combo (the gyration small keyboard and mouse) and it even gets choppy on screen movement when this is all running simultaneously.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as at present I am unable to use the USB-UIRT and i desperately want to!
oh - I used the instructions JRHEES provided for programming Bell receivers (press for 2-3 seconds then let go) to successfully program my remote within the snapstream software...just as a side note!
help help help! (and thanks in advance)
