Does fluorescent light affect the IR?

I'm thinking about buying some fluorescent bulbs for the overhead lighting in the room (these incandescent bulbs are just too hot). When I was researching another product on smarthome.com I read something about the fluorescent lighting possibly interfering with IR. Is that true? How much of an effect does it have?

Thanks
Chad

Yes it can, but the severity is very hard to quantify. Some of it also has to do with the ballast frequency of the lamps. Some fluorescent lamps operate near 40KHz and will interfere the most.
