DirecTV receiver/DVR control

I recently purchased Girder, and just received my UIRT today. It was very simple to install and get working properly with my DVD player, VCR, TV & stereo.

First, I want to thank you for this, because Tira just locked up my computer.

However, I'm having problems with the remote control for the DirecTV receiver/DVR (TiVo) box. Based on some of the other threads in this forum, it sounds like it might be a common problem.

Any suggestions on where to begin?

bl,

Can you be more specific on the problem (learning, etc.). Also, what SW are you using?

Thanks,

Jon

I want to thank you for a very quick response, and for a great product!

I've been sick this weekend, and apparently wasn't thinking too clearly, because I just tried it again today, and it works great. I apparently just wasn't getting the DirecTV remote properly aligned with the USB-UIRT.

In case anyone else has a similar problem, try this: position them about 2 inches apart, with the DirecTV remote at about a 60 degree angle to the face of the USB-UIRT. For some reason, that seems to be the most reliable.

Thank you again,

bl

I'm sorry, I forgot to answer your question about what software I am using. I am using Girder. Very happy.

Thanks again,

Good to hear you have it working.

The best positioning for the remote during learning is aiming the remote directly into the face of the USB-UIRT at a point just to the left of the USB-UIRT's Red LED -- that is where the Learn Sensor is located.
