Wierd problem with Hauppauge remote and left button

Postby jlindborg » Sat Jun 11, 2005 4:49 pm

Hey folks - kind of a weird one.

I have my USB UIRT working fine with Girder and my Sage client - I went through and "learned" the settings via Girder and all the keys workd dandy across the boards except when I press the left arrow key, the UIRT box indicator light goes solid and it stops accepting input for about 8 to 10 seconds, then the light goes out and I can proceed. The left arrow button doesn't take action.

I've learned and relearned the left button but this conintues to happen - very weird. I doesn't affect any other key on the remote and I've tried two of the same type of remotes (came with the 250s I bought).

Any idea of what this can be or how I troubleshoot this?

thanks much.

Yes, this is wierd!

Try the following:

Shut down all apps using the USB-UIRT. Then press the different buttons on your Hauppage remote and observe the red LED. See if the left arrow still is different.

What model remote is it?

I shut down all the apps (Girder and Sage) and the led blinks normal for all buttons, includng the left one. If I fire up Girder (I have the latest plug in off this site), all buttons work fine except the left button - the LED goes solid for a while.

What could Girder be doing here?

Wait, I found it...

Staring at the differences between the other Girder entries for the remote codes, I noticed that the target for the left button was the USB-UIRT option instead of "send message" as the others are - this must have been a bug in the first version of the Sage mappings I downloaded way back when. I forced it to "send command" and put in the "1258" message number and such, saved and all is well again...

Can't believe I've been living with that for about 6 months. Fortunately I don't need to use the left button too offten

As you were...
