usb-uirt receives but won't transmit

I am using the usb-uirt with Homeseer and have just started configuring it. I also have it connected to a Xantec ir box to distribute the signal. I have learned the commands into Homeseer fine and can send commands from a room that is remote from the usb-uirt. Homeseer receives the commands and will execute an event that is suposed to send a command back to A/V equipment in the original room. Unfortunately, the command signal doesn't come back. The Homeseer log shows the event was suseccfully executed and I have tested the cable (even though that shouldn't be a problem since the signal runs fine from the room to the usb-uirt.) I am missing something in the configuration in order to have the signal go back?

Thanks,
Alan Whitney

Alan,

To help debug:

1. Watch the LED on the USB-UIRT and ensure it lights up when HS is sending a command out through the USB-UIRT.

2. I would suggest testing some piece of equipment within line-of-sight of the USB-UIRT first to rule out any issues with the IR distribution.

I did some testing and found that sometime today either the Xantec connecting or IR receiver died so it's possible that they are the source of my problem. Just to be sure my setup is correct, tel me if this is how they should all go together:

-usb-uirt plugs into computer usb port
-usb-uirt emitter out plugs into Xantec connecting block IR In port
-Xantec emitter sticks onto the usb-uirt window (IR In port behind the front face)

Thanks,
Alan

Yes, that sounds correct.

The Xantech connecting block has screw down terminals for IR In labeled: +12v, IR, Status, Ground. Will the signal from the USB-UIRT emitter port be compatible with the connecting block if I use only the IR and Ground terminals?

It should be, but it is difficult to be sure because it depends on the connecting block's input specs. Some input blocks like to see 12V signals while others are fine with 5V signals (which is what the USB-UIRT provides).
