hello, i have the usbuirt WITHOUT 56Khz sensor.
I am trying to use it with sagetv to control a bell expressvu 4700 satellite box.

I am not 100% sure, but I think the 4700 is a 56khz remote (as well as UHF).

At any rate, the USB UIRT lights up while learning, but sometimes fails to learn the code (reports problem) or if it does learn the code, it doesnt seem to emit it properly (with sage you generally only teach it the numbers 0-9 so it can change channels).

I read that the USB UIRT can learn the 56khz codes even if I have the one that doesnt have a 56khz sensor... So I am wondering why it seems to fail to emit the proper codes. It generally seems to skip digits when doing a channel change. I have no external blaster connected to the USBUIRT.

This is the last piece of my DIY PVR to solve... would really like to get it working.

Most likely the problem lies with Sage's defaults for how long to *transmit* the IR code. The USB-UIRT should be learning the codes fine, but Sage defaults to a 'repeat' setting which is too short for many Dish boxes. You can manually edit your .IR file and add the following as the SECOND line of the file:

RepeatCount 5

and see if this clears up the problem. Alternatively, you can contact support and request the lrnHelper app which will assist you in learning codes and getting them working.
