Hi,

I just got my usb-uirt and am setting it up with SageTV, Girder. I have mapped all of the commands to my Hauppauge silver remote, but am having problems. I have to click each button twice for it to work. I have paused between hitting the same button and it still will not pass the signal correctly.

So say I want to scroll down in Sage. I have to click Down, Down for it to work.

Any Ideas? I have been changing the anti-repeat settings and it doesn't seem to have any effect.

Also, it seems to work fine if I do two different commands back to back. If I push up and then down it seems to work fine, but the same command won't work back to back unless I push the button twice.

Some remotes toggle between two different IR codes on each successive button press. I believe you're using a remote with just such a protocol. Aside from using a remote with a different protocol, you can work around this in Sage by learning both codes for each button in the mapping setup.

So I should map both codes to the same button?

Pardon my ignorance, but how do I do this?

Also, I found that in Sage you can set it to work with a UIRT device. Presently I don't have this selected, I did actually try it on USB and I didn't notice a change. Is it necessary to have this swithced to USB or not?

Sorry, -- I hadn't noticed that you were using Girder and I has assumed you were using Sage's built-in support.

In Girder you could map both codes by assigning two events to a single action.

Hi,

The hauppauge remotes are flakey. I think John hit it in the first post. As a test try learning a few commands with any other remote you have laying around and see if you have the same problem.

After lots of frustration with the hauppauge remote I abandoned it for something else. No more problems.

Certainly you can use girder, however it does add another layer. I only use girder to wake sage when sleeping. The balance of the remote commands I learn directly into sage using the usbuirt.

You should also check out the sage forum, lots of help there.

Thanks for the info. I did end up testing it with two event strings and it seems to be working correctly now. It is sending two different signals if you push any button again.

I think I will do a little more testing again tonight and if it is too much trouble I may get a different remote. I did do some testing with my TV remote and it worked fine, so it is definitely the Hauppauge remote which is causing problems.

This is 50:50 off topic, but you covered something above that is really getting to me!

I'm trying to learn my marantz amp volume commands on a (very) cheap universal remote, ubs-uirt/girder logger shows that two codes are indeed sent alternately...I want to be able to control volume with PC switched off too - any ideas where I should start...?

Should I just buy a half decent universal remote and set the volume buttons to macros that send two codes?

If you find a good universal remote with built-in code sets, you can likely find a code set with alternating codes.
