Same button different results

Postby Tivolicious » Thu May 08, 2003 10:15 pm

I can't seem to get consistent behavior out of my usb-uirt and girder. Nearly every time I press the power button on my remote I get a different result.

To be clear -- I am not trying to learn and transmit. I am simply trying to control the darn system.

Tivolicious,

Could you post some details:

1. What remote
2. When you press other buttons on the remote do they produce varying codes as well?
3. Does the code produced from the power button repeat itself in some sort of pattern or does it look really random?
4. If you hold the power button down, do you get repeated Girder events -- and if so, are these event codes varying?
5. Can you post a few of the 12-digit event codes the power button generates?

Thanks,

Jon

1) Sony TV remote
2) Yes
3) Pattern == No. Completely Random == no. There are certainly some codes that show up more frequently than others. However, they are not in a specific order. The angle of the remote can also generate more "hits" to a specific code.
5) 1500002A51B5, 190002A0A8EA, 1B000A55D1E6, 230A65C47B9D

A couple more questions:

1. You forgot to answer question #4 previously?
2. Do you have other remotes? Do they exhibit this behavior?
3. At short range does this happen as well?
4. Could you try 'Learning' one of your Sony Buttons and see what carrier frequency it says?

Thanks,

Jon
