Learning works only on very close range

Hi,

I have bought a brand new USBUIRT and learning and sending works fine wird GIRDER 3.3.
I have, however, noticed that learning IR commands only works when the RemoteControl ist very close to the USBUIRT.
Receiving works fine from almost everywhere in my room (the codes appear in GIRDER, and the red led on USBUIRT flahes up), but learning only is possible when the remote is right in front of USBUIRT (maybe 3 cm or so away).
When the remote is away about 10 cm or so, it doesn't learn anymore.

This is the case with several different RemoteControls.

Have you noticed the same? Or is my USBUIRT somehow defective?

Greetings,
and thanks in advance for your answer.

Heiko

Heiko,

Please see my response to your other posting in the Installation forum. Basically, the USB-UIRT uses a short-range IR receiver when learning. This is necessary since the USB-UIRT is analyzing the IR signal to extract its timing and frequency information, and this can only be done at short range.

Thanks, that's OK to me. I just wanted to know if that close-range-learning-only is "normal".
Obviously it is, and that is absolutely ok.

I just wanted to make sure that my new device does not have any flaws or so as long as it's in its warranty period :-)

By the way: Which other topic do you mean, because in the "Installation-Forum" I only have one topic about a customizable remote-control-tool, and there I coulnd't find any reply of yours.
