Gentoo Linux + Lirc + Dish 301 + UsbUirt = Not working! :-(

Ok,
I am having major difficulties. I am purchased a usbuirt from pcalchemy (without 56k). After installing patched Lirc 0.7.1 (Also under Lirc 0.8.0 unpatched) I can recieve commands, and I can irsend. However, I have downloaded the Dish 301 remote codes and placed them into my /etc/lircd.conf and when I try and irsend to them I get in my syslog:
uirt2usb_send: remote not supported
and the transmission fails.

Likewise, under Lirc 0.8.0 unpatched I get uirt2_send: remote not supported. My understanding is that while I cannot recieve 56k transmissions with my blaster I can still send them. Any ideas why this is not working? I recieved an e-mail back from usbuirt support that said my device should be capable to send and the firmware wouldn't check this. I read a post that suggested changing the value 48 in daemons/hw_uirt2usb_raw.c to 128 (apparently to overcome a 48 bit size limitation on transmission) but it doesn't help any. I have also tried this under Lirc 0.8.0 (When installing Lirc 0.7.1 I have to run libtoolize, I have no idea what this does but I don't think it would break it).

I have tried both versions under kernels: 2.6.15-gentoo-r1 and 2.6.11.11 with no results. Please help, this is the last thing I need working for my mythtv pvr. Any ideas?

I also recieve in syslog:
uirt2usb_raw: UIRT version 0509 ok
(is this the correct firmware version?)

This is the correct IR version.

The 'remote not supported' is some sort of Lirc error -- and is not generated by the USB-UIRT.

Any Lirc experts here?
