IR transmission shorter than USBUIRT expects - ho to solve?

I have troubles learning some codes from a harman/kardon remote control. Some of the keys send a code that is shorter than USBUIRT expects. The progress bar stops at about 40% when the code transmission of the RC finishes and I do not get any resulting code.
What can I do here? Is there a way to fetch the partial code from the UIRT-library?
