Need 75 ft cable, IR receive only, no emitting

Hi,

I need to have the IR reciever about 75 feet from my computer. I only need to receive IR signals to the computer (to control MediaJukebox). I have no need to emit IR signals.

I have a Streamzap ir receiver now, and I simply unsoldered the IR receiver diode (?) three wires and extended them using common 2 pair telephone wire. It worked great for about a year, now it's intermittently "weak" and has a hard time receiving commands.

Is there a way to do this on the USB-UIRT? Will my same way work? Anyone got any good ideas?

Thanks.

I know someone who uses cat5 cable for this (or maybe its the emitting portion), but not sure which pairs he uses. Ill try to get in touch with him later today.

Note: I already asked him if he would do a small write-up on this, as I want to do the same thing.
