Plug on back of USBUIRT and which wire to use when making...

What is the plug-in of the back of the USBUIRT used for? Can I use it for more emitters or for more receievers?

Also I see that many folks make their own emitters/receivers instead of buying them. Here's a Radio Shack parts list I got from another thread. What type of cable do I use? All parts are listed below except for the wire? Can someone post me a link of the Radio Shack part?

The jack can be used to connect wired EMITTERS only. To make your own emitter, you just need an IR LED and a 1/8" plug and some wire. Nothing more.

What kind of wire? 18, 22, 24 gauge? cooper?

I'll get it from Radio Shack.

Any wire 26 gauge or larger should work fine. It does not need to be shielded.

I heard you can connect 3 emitters to the USBUIRT. How can this be done with only one jack on the back? Do you have to use one of these?

You, can -- it really depends on how handy you are with a soldering iron, etc.

The USB-UIRT 1/8" jack already has TWO drive channels, so you could connect emitters or emitter pairs to each L and R channel. In addition, you could gang a few more LED's in parallel for even more emitters.
