usb-uirt with Beyond TV and Hughes (Direct tv) box

Postby dbadavem » Fri Sep 24, 2004 12:03 am

I recently installed Beyond TV 3.4 and purched the usb-uirt to change channels. I have Directv with a Hughes model GAEBO receiver.

I've used the BTV setup wizard several times trying to train the device. I have the Use Enter key box unchecked. The pad channel box is checked and the pad characters is set to 3. Pause I've several values from 100-500. And the repeat value, by default was set to 6. I've currently got it set at 1.

My remote does not have an Enter key, so I hit the UP volume key for it.

It never correctly passed the set up test. I seemed like it was skipping every other number and since it never transmitted 3 digits, it would be one to the next channel changing test before it actually changed channels.

Any ideas?

on edit: My OS is XP pro with SP2 installed

Perhaps the easiest next step to resolving your issue is to become familiar with the learn process by using a simple test app called 'lrnHelper'. Please email me at support@usbuirt.com and I'll send it to you,

Just in case anyone out there reads my first posting, I wanted to post how I got the uirt to work with Beyond TV. Hope it helps.

I don't know if it was the batteries being weak or if it was because I was holding the remote in my hand, but I got the device trained by using an All-in-One remote that I had programmed for my downstairs TV and I also rested the remote on the desk while training the device. I don't know which action caused the device to be trained properly, but it's now working.

Also, you may need to crank down the number of repeat key sending in the Advanced IR setting. The default is 6. This causes the numbers to be sent twice. Jon suggested 2, but I've got it setting at 1 and it's working just great.
