BTV not learning codes

Postby Prime06 » Sun Mar 13, 2005 12:44 am

I have an harmony SST-659 remote that is acting as a universal remote to a DirecTV Hughes HIRD-E1 box. During the setup of BTV. It asks me to train the remote when I try I get no reponse from the application. So I then pick the Hughes satellite box option in the drop down. Now anytime I try to change the channel on my BTV sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt. Usually it seems like it is missing numbers (e.g. if I try to change the channel to 206 it changes it to 06 or 20.)

Thanks in advance for any help. This is kinda frustating I am missing my Tarheels

Prime06,

If you use the predefined setup and it is not being robust, you will likely need to adjust the IR timing parameters within BTV. I believe BTV allows you to adjust both the delay between digits (which if it is too quick can cause missing digits) as well as the duration each didigt is sent (which if too short can also cause lost digits).

If you want to go the training route, please keep in mind that you must position the remote only a few inches away from the USB-UIRT while training, aimed directly at the face of the USB-UIRT at a point just to the left of the red LED.

jrhees,

I tried to go back and have BTV learning my remote. I know it is at least getting the signal cuz the red led on the usb-uirt blinks when press the "1" button on my harmony. But the BTV Setup wizard has no response.

Help should I just get a new cable box that has a serial adapter. maybe my box is too old to handle the new technologies.
