Emitter Stopped Working

Postby Guest » Fri Jul 22, 2005 6:22 pm

I’m using the USB UIRT with HomeSeer and the balance of my IR distribution system is Niles. I wanted to connect the two systems so I purchased an IR Linc from Smarthome (http://www.smarthome.com/8175.HTML) and hooked up the red wire to power, the white wire to data and black to ground as per the instructions. All seemed to work fine until the other day when I was cleaning up some of the wiring and accidentally dislodged the wires from the connecting block – now I can’t get it to work.

If I point the USB UIRT unit at the components I can successfully control them using commands from HomeSeer, just not using the IR Emitter and the IR Linc via the Niles System. This creates a problem since the USB UIRT is normally not within range of the components I want to control.

Do you think I may have shorted out the IR Linc somehow when I accidentally pulled out the wires? Seems unlikely to me. What else should I try?

Two possibilities -- the IRLinc is blown or the 1/8" jack's output is blown. If you have a visible emitter you can verify if the 1/8" jack still works.
