USB-UIRT problem using BeyondTV

Postby Mizkreant » Sat Nov 05, 2005 1:45 am

Card: Visiontek Xtasy 550
BTV Version 3.7.4
USB-UIRT with 1.3 drivers
General Instruments Digital Cable Box
Windows XP Home SP2

Everything was working just fine for me until a couple of days ago. I went to view live TV via BTV and it just crashed. I figured after a reboot everything might fix itself, but I was wrong. I was worried it might be my card, so I used Media Player Classic to test my capture card to make sure it was OK. The picture and sound were fine, but I noticed the channel kept trying to change to "000" over and over again. I unplugged the USB-UIRT and reinstalled the drivers. The LED stopped flashing. I relaunched BTV and went to LiveTV and it crashed again. The LED started flashing and it again kept sending "000" over and over to my cable box. I reinstalled BTV but this didn't fix the problem either.

If BeyondTV is not currently scheduled to record anything, I can unplug the USB-UIRT and reboot and that fixes the problem. If BeyondTV was supposed to be recording at that time, rebooting doesn't help anything, it still tries to change to channel 000 over and over. Even after "fixing" the problem, it comes back at random times.

Mizkreant,

This is a BTV bug and I am not sure if they ever figured it out or resolved it. But it has been confirmed over a year ago with other users, where BTV decides to start trying to tune '0000000' endlessly (this is handled in BTV software and not in the USB-UIRT). Please submit this issue to BTV support and let us know what response you get.

I sent a tech support message to Snapstream on Friday, so they probably won't get to it until Monday at the earliest.
This problem is quite strange though. It worked fine for about a month and then it suddenly developed this problem.
