"Generate UIRT-x Commands" Yields Same Hex Code in

Postby PhoenixF15E » Tue Oct 14, 2003 6:06 pm

I have a quick question. I'm making a universal CCF-GML for the 4am Music Console. I would like to make it "Plug and Play" for as many people as possible. I have an IRMan and USB-UIRT. What I would like to do is have Eventstrings in Girder for IRMan, USB-UIRT and UIRT-2 users. I want to use the UIRT-x emulation to make Eventstrings they can use as well.

I am using the panelmaker program from AVS Forum with a user code of 94. It works great with IRMan and USB-UIRT, but when I try to generate UIRT-x commands through the Girder Plugin, they all come out the same.

I imagine this is related to the recent firmware change that changed the way the codes were compressed since this was a problem before the latest firmaware.

I can't learn nor debug the code, as it doesn't seem to repeat.

Anyway, here is some info to help in the trouble shooting:

Pronto IR Code:

0000 006d 0022 0000 0152 00a9 0013 0013 0013 0039 0013 0013 0013 0039 0013 0039 0013 0039 0013 0039 0013 0013 0013 0013 0013 0013 0013 0013 0013 0013 0013 0013 0013 0013 0013 0013 0013 0039 0013 0039 0013 0013 0013 0039 0013 0013 0013 0013 0013 0013 0013 0013 0013 0039 0013 0013 0013 0013 0013 0013 0013 0013 0013 0013 0013 0013 0013 0013 0013 0013 0013 05f0

USB-UIRT Girder Code:

4348455000F5

UIRT-x Emulation:

4308005040F5

Kyle,

Yes, you guess right. The UIRT-x compatibility mode is going to create non-unique event strings for those codes -- just like the UIRT2 would.

The best way to work around this is to modify the panelmaker program (or ask the author to do it) to produce a shorter code. The current code the PanelMaker program generates is rather long, which really doesn't help anything (takes longer to transmit/receive).

Let me know if I can help.

Jon,

Thanks for the prompt reply. I don't know that much about Pronto Hex codes. Could some of this code be chopped off and still have all the codes unique? If so, I could pass this info the Panelmaker guru and maybe we could come up with something different.

While I love my USB-UIRT, I imagine there are people who would want to stick with what they have (UIRT-2) , and a code that is shorter to TX/RX would be a nice benefit for the rest of us.

Phoenix,

Agreed. A shorter code is simple enough to create from a change in PanelMaker. You could edit the Pronto codes by hand but that would be tedious. Also, depending on how PanelMaker gerenates codes, you may have to preserve either the last part or the first part of the code (depends on where the program increments codes).
