I updated to the latest firmware and driver and haven't had a problem since.

Just ordered my third unit... :)

Are you having problems with USB-UIRT *receive* (from your remote into the PC) or *transmit*?

Are you getting inconsistent IR codes showing up on the Girder status bar? If so, does it follow a pattern? Also, does it change depending on how close the remote is to the USB-UIRT?

Thanks,

I am having inconsistencies with transmit. I haven't started with send yet. Need to get an IR connector block and some IR, uh, whatchacallits.

I am using an MX-800 by Home Theater Master.

Most of my problems are specifically with sending for the MyHD card. At one point I found that I could press teh button twice fairly quickly in succession, and the second press would work. If I click, and keep clicking leaving 2-3 seconds in between, every code is different (at the bottom of the screen).

I still have a tendency to blame the remote.

I haven't tried testing by being closer to the remote. One thing that I do wonder: Can proximity to a receiver or speakers affect how well it works?
Thanks
Roger

Proxomity to something that generates a fair amount of electro-magnetic noise (like the power supplies on TV's or Amps) can affect the unit. If in doubt, try moving it away from equipment for a test.

Generally, if noise is a problem (either from electro-magnetic noise or the PC's power supply), you will see inconsistencies in codes only at longer ranges while short range (a few feet) will still be OK.

Sage losses contact w/ USB-UIRT

Postby jb33 » Fri May 21, 2004 5:23 am

this is the third time in 5 months. The other times reinstalling the USB-UIRT device and restarting Sage basically got me going again, but this time I can't seem to get it back. hoping someone here's got ideas. hate to bring out the keyboard again.

It is going to cramp my style a little bit b/c my first one has a longer cable, but in the interest of getting to the bottom of it I don't mind pointing my remote in a strange direction for a week or so.

Thanks,

Well, still pointing my remote in an odd direction! I haven't had the 'lost contact' problem at all since switching the devices on the two machines.

P.S... actually the USB-UIRT almost always picks up my remote's IR output even if I point it directly away from the USB-UIRT :)

Similar problem - beyond TV loses contact with UIRT

Postby dt » Sat Feb 26, 2005 2:09 pm

I am using the usbuirt to conrol a Motorola DCT5100 from Comcast, and it works fine from inside beyond tv. Everything stays on all the time - I have disabled all powersaving or standby.

Sometimes I discover that the program failed to set the channel, and then I cannot change the channel manually from inside Beyond TV (it thinks the channel has changed, but the uirt does nothing).

I can tell the uirt still has power because the light blinks if I use a TV remote.

The problem resolves if I unplug and replug the uirt from the USB port (the computer makes the ding-dong noise with unplugging and plugging)

Any recommedations?
Shuttle X P4 2.2, 256 mb, ATI allinwonder 9000, beyond tv 3 trial, usb-uirt purchased 2/05
