transmitting problem...

Hi,

My apologies if this has been covered already, but I have the USB-UIRT with the extra emitter. The USB-UIRT receives the signals fine, but I have not got the slightest clue on how to make it transmit. I am also new to girder and do not know how to make it transmit a code. If somebody could point me in the right direction on how to get this working, I would greatly appreciate it.

Again, apologies once again if this has been covered, I did a search and could not come up with anything that was able to assist me.

Step-by-step to create a Girder 'Command' to transmit.

1. In Girder, right-click on the tree at the left half of the window and choose 'Add Command'
2. Highlight the new command and Select the 'Plugins' tab at the far right of Girder window.
3. From the plugins list, select 'USB-UIRT Driver' and click the 'Settings' button.
4. On the USB-UIRT driver dialog, click the 'Learn...' button.
5. Aim your remote at the USB-UIRT, about 3-4 inches away, and press and hold a button of your choice until learning completes.
6. Verify the newly learned code can be retransmitted correctly by clicking the 'Test' button.
7. Click the 'OK' button.

You now have a new command in Girder which will transmit the IR code you learned every time it is 'executed'.

Hi John,

Thanks very mcuh for your assistance. I managed to get it working ok. But I am not sure if girder is playing up or my creative amp is. I got girder to learn the transmit command (which is the power button on the remote for my amp), it learns the code fine. When I test transmission of the code the amp does not power on or off. Played around with it some more, and I finally got it working, but the way I got it to work is weird and I am not sure if this is a fault/bug or not.

The way I got to to work:
1. Learn code
2. In "code 1" box have the text cursor move to the end of the code (which was just learnt).
3. Learn code again.

What this now does is adds more code to "code 1" box and some more to "code 2" box. Which in turn now works to power the amp off and on. Any ideas as to why that is the case?

What you think is happening is really not. Having the cursor there does not add to the code already there. Instead, the learning is producing intermittent codes, and the 2nd time learning you got the full code.

When learning, make sure you have the remote positioned well *before* you press and hold the button. It sounds like the failed learning attempt lost the initial burst that the remote sends out when the button is pressed.
