Snapstream Firefly codes needed for Pronto remote

Postby Brian Conway » Tue Mar 15, 2005 3:33 am

Can anyone help with this problem :

I have the following components :
1. Beyondtv
2. USB-UIRT
3. Phillips Pronto 3000 remote
4. Satelite receiver
5. Yamaha amp.
6. Toshiba DVD player

I have trained the Pronto to run all of the components and would like to be able to use the Pronto to run the Beyondtv program (so I don't have to use a mouse and keyboard to run Beyondtv). I know that Snapstream sells the Firefly remote to run the Beyondtv program. I understand that the Firefly remote transmits RF signals (rather than IR signals). If it transmitted IR signals I could train the Pronto with the Firefly. Does someone have a Firefly remote and can you convert the RF code signals for each of the buttons to an IR code (that I could then cut and paste into the software that comes with the Pronto)?

Alternatively, the Pronto can learn RF signals, but I'm just not sure if it can learn the RF signals put out by the Firefly remote. Again, as anyone tried or done this?

Any assistance would be much appreciated.

Brian,

The Firefly remote comes with its own RF receiver, so even if you could train the Pronto with Firefly IR codes, the Firefly receiver would never see your Pronto.

The USB-UIRT can see such IR codes, but Snapstream does not support the 'receive' fucntionality of the USB-UIRT, so you would have to use a helper program such as Girder if you wanted to use the USB-UIRT as an IR receiver to control Snapstream. In this case, you wouldn't even need the Firefly codes because you could pick any IR code-set on your Pronto which had the buttons you need.
