Some of you will laugh, some of you will roll your eyes, and others will just think I'm an idiot...(all will be legitimate responses).
After about 3 months worth of weekends trying to get my PVR working, and after trying MythTV, GB-PVR, and then finally Windows MCE 2004 with Girder and now Windows Media Center Edition 2005, the remaining problem has been related to the remote control.
While doing some research on Windows MCE, I found somebody who flashed their IR receiver into a Microsoft compatible device.
Here is what he did and I attempted the same but with my USB-UIRT:

This is what u need to do:
Step 1: Download and install flashing program called MProg from FTDI website available at http://www.ftdichip.com/FTUtilities.htm. As it says on a website you'll need to install D2XX drivers in order to run the program. Read everything carefully.
Step 2: With your IR receiver still pluged in go to Device Manager and under Ports(Com & LPT) select your Virtual Com Port and UNINSTALL it from your system. Then go to USB Devices and right mouse click on your High Speed Converter and select "Update driver". In the next window select "Install from a list or some other location". In the next window select "Don't search." Click Next. In the next window click "Have Disk" and browse to "YOUR PROGRAM FILES FOLDER"\Mprog 1.0\Drivers. Finish the installation. Unplug it and plug it back in. Confirm in the Device Manager that you have a device called something like D2XXX under USB Devices.
Step 3: This is where the fun starts!
Run Mprog. If you want to get yourself familiar with the program - go ahead. If not, follow me.
Click File>New. The program will switch to Edit Mode. In the "device Type" field select FT245BM. 99.9% this is your chipset (At least it was mine).
In the "USB VID/PID" field select own VID & PID. Now in the "Vendor ID" type in 045E(it's a zero first), in the "Product ID" type 006D.
USB Power Options - Bus Powerd 90 mAmps.
Serial Number Prefix - MS.
In the "BM Device specific options" select USB 2.0. If you want you may also select "Enable USB Remote Wakeup" to play with it later. In the "Manufacture" field type MICROSOFT, in the "Product Descrption" - eHome Infrared Receiver. Click FILE > SAVE AS... and save it with some descriptive name.
Step 4: Pray to your gods!
Step 5: In the top menu click Device > Scan. I t will show you it found 1 blank and 0 programmed devices. The blank one is yours. (I would kill the whole NewEgg team for selling unprogrammed devices.)
Step 6: Pray to your gods again!
Step 7: Click Device > Program. It should say it's been successfully programed.
Step 8: Now unplug the receiver. Plug it back in. New wizard should start "Found new Hardware" it should install automatically without asking you for any drivers.
Step 9: Now get your remote control and press THE BIG GREEN BUTTON in the middle. Enjoy.
It worked for me. I cannot garantee you 100% it'll work for you.

We'll, It didn't work for me. Not in Windows MCE 2004 or 2005.
Windows identifies the device as "eHome Infrared Receiver" alright, but it still does not work. BTW, Mac OS X sees the device as:

When I attempt to flash it back to its normal self with UUFlash utility I get the message that the device is not found. I cannot flash it back with the MProg utility either (it does not see the USB device). I have hosed myself!
Any advice or should I chalk it up to a live and learn experience?
