Problem learning codes with a Panasonic VCR

Postby CristianoBR » Mon Sep 12, 2005 11:02 pm

Hi, I am trying to make the Girder learn command from my Panasonic VCR model PV-4920 without success , but it works on learn Event...
What I can do here? What´s the problem? Sensitivity perhaps?
Well, thanx for any help,
Cristiano

You might have to play around with positioning of your Panasonic remote to figure out the best spot for learning. Learning is intentionally 'picky' so as to create precise codes.

Tips:

-Hold your remote 4-6 inches away from the USB-UIRT, aimed directly into the face of the USB-UIRT at a spot just to the left of the red LED.

-Have fresh batteries in your remote -- older batteries can cause the signal to decay quickly

Can you describe what is/is not happening when you try to learn (what app are you using, what happens on the progress bar, etc.)

It happens nothing, its like the remote isn´t working, the led on the uirt doesn´t flash, the progress bar doesn´t move.
But, if I leave this screen, the led on the uirt flashes normally (receiving commands works fine, but learning do not).
I tried from various angles and distances and still nothing, even trying different buttons.
The remote works fine with the VCR.
Maybe if I could input the vcr codes directly...

CristianoBR,

It still sounds like thefre is a problem with the positioning of the remote. When LEARNing, the USB-UIRT uses a *different* sensor than during normal operation. This is why you see the red LED flash when you exit the learn screen (the USB-UIRT has switched back to its long-range sensor). When LEARNing, the USB-UIRT uses a short range sensor. I am wondering if you need to get even closer to the USB-UIRT with your remote.

Problem learning codes

I am having the same problem.

When I am in the Girder main screen, and press a remote button, I see the USB-UIRT light flash properly and the event string loaded every time. Also, Girder is able to learn the 'event string' no problem.

However, when I go to learn an action, using the USB-UIRT plugin learn function, nothing happens.

I do not believe it to be a remote placement/location/orientation problem since it works *every* time when in the Girder event learning area.

Is this a driver issue? I am using a DLL for a plug-in version 2.6.9.0 and Girder 3.3.10.

Thanks,
Steve

I resolved my problem. I updated to the latest flash for the USB-UIRT, and then I had to place the remove *right* on top of the USB-UIRT box - only for learning.

Hm. Works.

Steve,

Please see my comments above. A different learning sensor is used between the two different types of learns. The Girder event learn uses the long-range sensor, while the Action learn uses a short-range sensor required to capture the timing and frequency, etc. of the IR signal.
