Hang on Hibernate

Postby nkapur » Tue Jul 22, 2003 6:26 pm

After days of trying to isolate the problem, the primary suspect is USB UIRT. After installing the usb-uirt drivers and rebooting the computer - if I try to put my computer into hibernate state it hangs at the "Hibernating..." message. This happens even if the device is unplugged. Only after uninstalling the drivers does the computer start hibernating again.

Anyone have any insights on how this can be fixed?

Thanks,
- Nikhil
Windows XP
Pentium 4 on a FIC motherboard

BTW things got worse when I upgraded to XP SP1. If the usb-uirt was plugged in, it would not even boot up - hang at a blank screen. Unplugging the device and rebooting worked fine.

Hmmm, that doesn't make sense... The drivers for the USB-UIRT do not even load unless the device is physically plugged into the USB port. BTW, What version of drivers are you using?

I am unaware of any reason this would not work (I use XP as well). Also, I don't know why the computer wouldn't boot either. How far does the boot get before it hangs? Does the WindowsXP logo screen come up?

I am using the 1.2 drivers with the 2.5.9 plugin. For the hang on boot i do see the logo screen. Starting in debug mode shows the last driver loading as the AGP driver before it hangs. I think thats the last driver loaded anyway. I use a Radeon AGP 7000 - if thats any relation.

I also use a Logitech Wireless USB gamepad. Maybe that has some incompatability too. let me uninstall that and see if it makes any difference.
